Gum health matters as much as tooth health
Periodontics is the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease—also known as gum disease.
Periodontal disease—a bacterial infection of the gum tissue—can cause bad breath, loose teeth, and receding or bleeding gums. We can help prevent it so you can avoid tooth loss, and treat it to help you avoid associated health concerns.
With regular, attentive brushing and flossing you can help prevent periodontal disease. We also offer professional services that can help prevent or treat it.
Scaling and root planing
By removing the plaque and tartar buildup from the roots of your teeth, we can help prevent inflammation and infection of your gums.
Tooth extraction
If you have an infected tooth we may have to remove it to prevent the spread of infection to healthy teeth. We’ll always recommend appropriate restorations to replace the missing tooth.
Gum grafting
To repair damaged gums, we may recommend grafting gum tissue from a healthy area of your mouth onto the area that has the problem.
